The Cleveland Standard
Severing ties with 25 years of manufactured media cynicism. We are not asking for soft questions or cheerleading. We are asking for professional, championship-caliber journalism that matches the passion of this fan base. Join your fellow Browns Backers in establishing a higher standard.
Why I Built This
I am a lifelong Browns fan with a deep interest in data, human psychology, and how successful organizations sustain high standards.
I have been fortunate to be part of high-performing teams in other parts of life. The Browns have always been the one organization I cared about deeply but could not help from the inside. For years, I felt the same thing many fans felt: something about the environment around this team seemed to turn hope into pressure almost immediately.
This project began as a way to test that feeling against evidence. Advances in language models finally made it possible to analyze thousands of official press-conference questions in a way that would have been too costly and time-consuming for one person before.
The result is not a verdict and not a personal attack on any reporter. It is a data-backed hypothesis, offered in good faith, about how Cleveland can raise the standard around the team we all want to see succeed.
The Cleveland Standard for Cleveland Sports Discourse
Cleveland sports fans support their teams with a devotion unmatched in professional athletics. We deserve a media culture that matches that commitment—not with blind cheerleading, but with demanding, intelligent football journalism. For 25 years, local sports discourse has been weighed down by the scar tissue of past regimes. The Cleveland Standard establishes four baseline principles to elevate our sports conversation:
Demand answers about scheme, technique, and player development rather than entrapment questions fishing for despair.
Evaluate the current coaching staff and roster on their own tape, not on the lingering scar tissue of 1999–2019 failures.
Hold leadership strictly accountable to football standards without performative hostility masquerading as toughness.
Reward beat writers, analysts, and hosts who do genuine football work. Refuse to click or amplify panic-bait soundbites.
Keeps the board clean and troll-free with automated character filtering.
